UBS Verbier Festival

Note to all classical music lovers: If you happened to lack the funds to attend the UBS Verbier Festival this summer, video broadcasts of practically the entire program can be viewed for free on this site in surprisingly excellent quality. Tons of great stuff there. Quasthoff, Grimaud, the Labeque sisters, Freire, Mehta, Kissin, Lang Lang, Pletnev, Salonen and of course Martha Argerich.

Hiatus

I've been a bad blogger, not updating for months. I've even been a lousy self-anointed music critic. I didn't report about Fazıl Say's recital at Northwestern, Haitink's Bruckner 7th with the CSO, the William Kentridge/La Monnaie production of die Zauberflöte at the BAM, Gail Williams's recital at Northwestern, or Myun-Whun Chung's Ravel with the CSO. Of course I was crazy busy at work, interviewed for a new job, quit my old job and went on vacation for a month. I started my new job today. So, as a consolation, here is a picture from our hike up the Stoanerne Mandln (2,003m above sea level) above the Sarn valley in South Tyrol.
